Interactive Educational Programme Announced About Children With Haemophilia

Children with haemophilia who wish to participate in sport and other physical activity may require specialized knowledge and care to do so safely. On the Move with Haemophilia, an interactive educational program developed by In Vivo Academy in collaboration with the Haemophilia Foundations of Australia and New Zealand, works to educate and improve the confidence of parents, caregivers, coaches, and teachers in creating safe and effectively managed environments for young people with haemophilia who participate in sport and other physical activity.

“Being able to be involved in sport and exercise is a big issue for young people with haemophilia in our community. We are pleased this resource is available to help parents, schools and sport coaches understand both how to include our young people in activities and to support them to have appropriate rehabilitation after a bleed,” said Gavin Finkelstein, President of the Haemophilia Foundation Australia.

“It is important to have education about sport and physical activity that targets parents and teachers of school-aged children and adolescents with haemophilia so that good practice can be developed early, and joint damage can be prevented," said Dr. Tina Louise Carter, Consultant Paediatric and Adolescent Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist; Head of Paediatric and Adolescent Haematology Clinical Director of the Haemophilia Therapy Centre Perth Children’s Hospital Path West Nedlands; Senior Clinical Lecturer University of Western Australia Nedlands Western Australia

Ensure that your school or sports team is a safe environment for children with haemophilia to participate in physical activity. Be a participant in this educational program at http://www.pro-ficiency.net/hem.
